A few weeks ago I met up with one of my oldest friends father - a writer based for many years in Australia. He bought me some pieces of charcoal from a bush fire. And upon finding that the material was from a Ghost Gum I immediately had the idea for a large charcoal drawing of one.

With a move imminent I wanted to capture the feel of the idea while I could and set about painting this in oil while I had time. It became a finished piece in it’s own right.
