The view at night from our place on the river Llobregat in Catalunya with the old bridge between Sant Fruitos de Bages and Navarcles. Bia saw this incredible storm approaching and sent me some videos of it. I've cheated the view to include the view in the opposite direction of the massif of Montserrat (at right) since I've been attempting to work the range into a composition for at least a year and this just worked.
As always with my landscapes (and with almost all landscape painting historically) this is a summation and a composition derived from an actual place and time edited, composed and adjusted to heighten what was seen but most importantly felt.
And in that sense one could say my practice with landscape painting is analagous to Ansel Adams photography dictum; 'the negative is the score, the print is the performance' with the simple difference being that there is but one painting from the source material.
